Relationship with God
Home

God's plan to have a relationship with us can be understood in four simple statements.  Each statement is backed up with what God says in the Bible:

  • 1. God created us to have a relationship with Him.

    • God wants us to experience peace and a rich, full life.

    • John 10:10  I (Jesus speaking) have come that they may have life, and have it to the fullest.

  • 2. We cannot enter into that relationship because our wrong choices have separated us from God.

    • Isaiah 59:2  But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear you.

    • Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

  • 3. God made a way for us to have a relationship with Him through Jesus death on the cross.

    • Jesus is a bridge between God and people.

    • When Jesus died on the cross, he paid the penalty for our sins.

      • John 3:16  "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

      • 1 Peter 3:18  For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.

    • Jesus is the only way to have a relationship with God.

      • John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.

      • No one comes to the Father except through me.

      • 1 Timothy 2:5  For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

  • 4. We must respond to God’s offer.

    • God invites everyone to cross the bridge to a relationship with Him.  We must admit our sins, desire to leave them behind and trust Jesus’ death as the payment for our sins.

      •  John 1:12  Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--

      •  Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

If you would like to enter into a personal relationship with God, you can pray the following prayer.  If you do pray this prayer or would like to talk with Pastor Welty in more detail about a relationship with God, please contact him.

 Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I was created to have a relationship with God, but I have made wrong choices and have sinned.  I believe that you died for my sins and are a bridge between God and people.  I admit my sins to you, and I want to leave them behind.  Please forgive my sins as I receive your gift of new life and a relationship with God.

                                                                         In Jesus’ name, Amen.
