Christian and Missionary Alliance
The CMA church was founded in 1887 to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a very real way of BEING Jesus Christ to others and DOING God's work on the ground in the United States and around the world. The doctrine of the Fourfold Gospel is at the center of this vision and mission.
So what is the Fourfold Gospel?
The Cross: Christ Our Savior
The Laver: Christ Our Sanctifier
The Pitcher: Christ Our Healer
The Crown: Christ Our Coming King
Dr. AB Simpson is the founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. In 1873 he pastored Thirteenth Street Presbyterian Church in New York City where he had compassion for the flood of immigrants pouring into NYC. He began to minister to the poor, the homeless, and the unwelcomed. Simpson opened the Gospel Tabernacle in the heart of the city. Following the Great Commission-Matthew 28:18-20, from there he had a vision and passion to reach the masses around the world.
AW Tozer is a notable CMA pastor and worker who wrote the Christian classics The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy. He pastored CMA churches in West Virginia, Toledo Ohio, Toronto, and Chicago from 1919 to 1959.
